Hawkwood is built around the original 1890s log cabin that served as the Hawkwood Post Office and School House. Then as now, the land consisted of wilderness populated with wildlife large and small, from birds to deer, elk, moose, and black bear. Occasional grizzly bears, mountain lions, and wolves still roam the adjacent Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness.
To keep the land pristine, the surrounding property was put under covenants in the 1980s, ensuring that the privacy and natural setting would remain intact. While not a part of the Reserve of 900 acres that surround the home, the Hawkwood property enjoys all of the benefits of protection from development afforded by the covenants and the Reserve. This unique home combines historic value and charm with all of the contemporary amenities and furnishings we value. The home is furnished with designer items, and and there is the option to buy additional artisan-made pieces like those shown in our photographs. When you purchase Hawkwood, you also have the option to apply for the property to be included in the adjacent Reserve. The West Boulder Valley is spectacularly beautiful and home to remote ranches (a few owned by well-known actors and writers) and some of the best recreation in the state, but still within reach of towns of Western character, charm and culture. And, yes, this is "A River Runs Through It" country; both this movie and "The Horse Whisperer" were filmed right down the road at neighboring ranches. |
